Hi, my name is Jennifer Hempson and I love exploring life’s moments and capturing them on camera. Big ones like the addition of a new family member, simple ones like capturing a special moment in time i.e. A family just being together at that specific time. We all know how hectic life can be, how time flies and how children grow up so quickly.

My passion for photography began when I was very young, the box of old family photos would be brought down from the loft and sifted through as if we had never seen them before – Reigniting feelings, memories and nostalgia. I believe this is why I love capturing today’s memories and preserving them for the future.

“Photography is a form of time travel”  – Neil Degrasse Tyson

In my teens, travel and landscape photography was the focus of a lot of my photography as I was lucky enough to travel to some lovely places with family and friends. I would often and still do, ‘see the shot’ before I even have looked through a camera lens. This turned in to a passion for taking photos of people in a variety of settings and became a creative outlet, a way for me to document the world and my experiences as I grew. I soon realised how much joy I felt and how rewarding it was to take “that” photo, a story telling, powerful piece of art that would last for eternity. I was hooked on developing as a photographer and on making my hobby/passion a full time career.

“Photography takes an instant out of time, altering life by holding it still” – Dorothea Lange

The birth of my daughter “Polly-Rose”, was a time when I realised even more so, the power and importance of photography. I wanted to hold on to every second of this new life unfolding before me. Initially, it was all about firsts: first smiles, first steps, first holidays – until I realised there was magic in everyday moments too.

As well as doing natural and relaxed family studio based portraiture, I very much enjoy on-location natural light photo shoots and weddings. I love how being in the great outdoors naturally relaxes people, especially children so that they can be themselves in front of the camera but I do pride myself on providing a very relaxed environment within my home studio – My review page highlights this.

“We take photos as a return ticket to a moment otherwise gone” – Katie Thurmes

When I am not busy doing all things photography related, I am mummy to my gorgeous 4 year old daughter and wife to my wonderful, encouraging and supportive husband.

I would be delighted to have a chat with you and to welcome you to the studio  –  If you would like to get in touch to organise a session or have any questions, then please don’t hesitate to send me a message. You can find my contact details in the Contact section of the website, or alternatively you can fill in the contact form and I will get back to you.

I cannot thank Jen of Polly-Rose Photography enough for giving me the wedding photos I dreamed of. She totally solved our problem after the award winning photographers we booked for our wedding didn't get the pictures we had discussed, wanted and hoped for. We have seen Jens work before so knew she was a great photographer and so asked if she could retake some shots of us (bride and groom) if we got dressed up again and went back to the venue nearly 3 months after our actual wedding. I knew if we didn't do this we would regret it forever. Thankfully she said yes!

Jen totally took on board what we explained to her about the importance of the venue to us and incorporating the amazing scenery that surrounded it. I told her how disappointed I was that I didn't have that one special shot that showcased my wedding dress. I really felt she empathised with me and I could tell she was on a mission to make sure she captured that important shot for me. Jen gave great direction and made us both feel comfortable as we were obviously quite anxious. She had great ideas for photos and made total use of the beautiful surroundings. She was patient and professional and I'm so so happy with even just the sneak peak of the snaps I've seen so far! She has put so much effort into making this spot on for us and I cannot thank her enough for giving me the wedding photos I had always dreamed of.

I would recommend her for your wedding photographer 100 times over. I hope people will learn for our mistake, and make sure you book a brilliant talented photographer the FIRST time round! Thank you thank you a thousand times.
